This course is designed for adult healthcare professionals in an advanced practice role to recognise, safely assess and implement the initial management of a child or young person with an episode of acute illness.

The skills and knowledge gained on this course could be required and applied in most Primary and Secondary Healthcare settings. The knowledge, understanding and skills developed during this course will enable the practitioner to accurately assess the patient with the episode of acute illness and implement a safe and appropriate plan of care including transferral to area of definitive care for the child or young person.
Aim:- To provide the underlying knowledge, skills and understanding to enable practitioners to recognise, safely assess and implement the initial management of a child or young person with an episode of acute illness including escalation of care as required.
