The dissertation is an independent piece of work on a petroleum engineering topic. The students are encouraged to focus their dissertation on a problem confronting the petroleum industry, and demonstrate how the design and operational fundamentals they have learned during the taught programme can be put into practice to provide solutions towards addressing the problem. The dissertation should contain a degree of original work and demonstrate in-depth knowledge and application of concepts acquired throughout the MSc programme. The project work is carried out as full-time study over three months between June and September.
