This course takes four key areas of high-level management practice and provides a creative and challenging vehicle for students to improve and develop competence. The four areas; negotiation, data analysis, communication and project work are broken down into contexts, tools, skills and knowledge to create a platform for self-evaluation of skill gaps and weaknesses in participants. Four extended interactive sessions are utilised in presenting and critically evaluating models of analysis, management and behaviour in simulated workplace settings. Team-based case studies and role-play are employed to facilitate skill development and evaluative skills in students. Theory and tools are introduced in key areas such as software and spread-sheet work, negotiation models, data analysis techniques and software, speech writing and presentation skills and software, project software appraisal and team development models.
