This course will provide an interdisciplinary approach to understand normal and abnormal human reproduction, fertility and pregnancy. Assisted reproductive technologies and the surrounding ethical issues will be covered in detail. All students will have the opportunity to visit and experience the day-to-day running of the Aberdeen Fertility Centre.

This course will provide an interdisciplinary approach to understand normal and abnormal human reproduction, fertility and pregnancy. Assisted reproductive technologies and the surrounding ethical issues will be covered in detail. All students will have the opportunity to visit and experience the day-to-day running of the Aberdeen Fertility Centre.
Assessment is through a combination of written assessment, including a report from the visit to the Aberdeen Fertility Centre, case studies, and by examination.

Essay based on visit to Aberdeen Fertility Centre and what saw, experienced and learnt - to discuss what is needed to establish a successful clinic including relevant regulatory information.
Essay word limit: 2000 words. Each student will be asked to submit this report within 1 week of their visit to the Fertility Centre. Feedback will be provided on report structure, analyses of how to run Fertility Clinic, what is needed, legal requirements etc. |

Case Studies Tutorial - requiring a written report on the Case Studies.
Written report to be no more than 2000 words (not including citation/reference list).
Students have 1 week to prepare the written report. Deadline will be end of week 15 and feedback will be provided by end of week 16.
Feedback to include comments on report structure, their intepretation and analyses and further work to be suggested (if relevant). |
