PU5911: SPECIALIST RESEARCH PROJECT IN HUMAN NUTRITION (2019-2020)

Course Overview

This applied research project, completed under the guidance of two supervisors, will give direct experience of the different processes involved in scientific research either in a laboratory, clinical or public health setting. A wide range of research topics will be offered covering the nutrition subjects studied in the taught course. Projects are carried out at the Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health, School of Medical and Dentistry or Aberdeen Royal Infirmary; projects may also be undertaken in other institutions in the UK or overseas where suitable supervision can be identified.

Course Description

This applied course leads on from the 30 credit research project management course (MT5811) and will continue to build on taught courses, in stages 1 and 2, covering the core nutrition research elements. It will be supervised by two experts, both in topic area and methodology.

Individual research projects are student and supervisor led. The student will manage their project under the guidance and support of the supervisor. Teaching and learning for this course will involve primarily self-study, discussions with research project supervisors and practical work. You will which will provide you with a theoretical background and applied knowledge for each topic.
