Gaining direct experience of the processes involved in managing the early stages of a specialist research project in nutrition this course focuses on an initial literature review of a research topic, preparing a research protocol, as well as developing good professional practice when undertaking a scientific research project.

This applied course introduces the early stages of a research project and builds on taught courses, in stages 1 and 2. It will be supervised by two experts, both in topic area and methodology.
Individual research projects are student and supervisor led. The student will manage their project under the guidance and support of the supervisor. Teaching and learning for this course will involve primarily self-study, discussions with research project supervisors and practical work. You will which will provide you with a theoretical background for each topic.
You are expected to spend around 100 hours in practical work, 100 self-study and 60 hours in preparation for assessments. Please note these are purely indicative and can vary depending on the type of project being undertaken
