This compulsory course for all distance learning post-graduate research students takes students through a series of multi-media activities during their first semester to hone some of the core skills required to excel in post-graduate research work.

This compulsory course for all distance learning post-graduate research students takes students through a series of multi-media activities during their first semester to hone some of the core skills required to excel in post-graduate research work. Near the completion of the first full year of post-graduate research work, PhD students present their work via video conferencing at a conference to which research staff and students within the College of Arts and Social Sciences are invited. PhD Students then submit a capstone paper to be assessed as a part of the course assessment and of the progression process within the programme.

Continuous assessment through a series of formative tasks, summative assessment through a 10,000 word assessed essay (capstone paper) and presentation.

There are no assessments for this course.
Oral and written feedback will be provided for all formative and summative tasks. The capstone paper is assessed by the research supervisors and the course coordinator.
