This course introduces students to the problems of organisational life.  The organizing concept for this course is the re-framing situations  whereby students will learn to understand work / business situations through four lenses (organisational structure, organisational culture, power & politics, and HR).

Course Description

This course introduces students to the problems of organisational life.  The organizing concept for this course is the re-framing situations  whereby students will learn to understand work / business situations through four lenses (organisational structure, organisational culture, power & politics, and HR). 

 

Students will be expected to draw on and share personal experiences of the topics covered through discussion of case studies.

Details, including assessments, may be subject to change until 30 August 2024 for 1st term courses and 20 December 2024 for 2nd term courses.

Summative Assessments

1st attempt: 1 three hour examination (50%) and continuous assessment (50%).

Resit: The re-sit will comprise of re-doing the failed element/s (exam and/or coursework assessment/s) from the 1st attempt with a maximum CGS mark of D3. The marks for other elements (successfully passed) will be carried over. Resit mark of either RP or RF will be recorded.

Formative Assessment

There are no assessments for this course.

Students will be given feedback via MyAberdeen on their quiz scores and discussion postings.  This feedback is intended to help them prepare for the final exam.
