Course Overview

This course aims to provide the student with an understanding of and an ability to apply the core microeconomic principles to real life situations and academic problems. In addition, to provide the student with the necessary tools to conduct research at a post graduate level.

The course provides the student with high powered analytical tools to conduct policy based analysis that is suitable in a non-academic context, at industry and government based organisations.

The course covers topics such as Consumer and Producer theory, the Theory of Markets, the Theory of Incentives, the Economics of Information and Topics in Uncertainty, Welfare Economics, and Applications of Game Theory.

Summative Assessments

1st attempt:

2-hour examination (80%)

Continuous assesment (20%)

 

Resit: 100% 2hr written examination.

Formative: This will take place via tutorial discussions, written feedback concerning the written assignments or through personal contact. 

Summative: Written feedback will be provided. On a less formal basis verbal feedback is given either during class discussions or individual meetings.
