CS5570: INDIVIDUAL PROJECT IN SOFTWARE MANAGEMENT (2016-2017)

Last modified: 28 Jun 2018 10:27

Course Overview

This module, which spans two terms, delivers the individual dissertation (the “thesis”) that each student must submit at the end of the MSc course. It focuses on an individual topic of software project management relevance agreed between the programme director and each student during the preparatory part of the module itself, before a project supervisor is assigned to the student. The research leading to the dissertation, which can include a broad range of SWPM-relevant topics, focuses on specific projects the student is currently working on (or has worked on, or expects to be working on).

Course Description

Students will be required to undertake individually a significant software management project that is related to the taught material and which is relevant with respect to their current position in the IT sector. Guidance will be provided during the whole project to support and optimise their effort. The project is an independent artefact based on a topic of the student's own choice. Students are encouraged to focus their project on a relevant problem identified within their own organisation and to demonstrate how software project management concepts, skills, and techniques they have acquired so far can be put into practice.
