Course Description

The course deals with current topical issues in forestry at both national and international levels to gain a wider understanding of the interactions of commercial forestry and the natural environment. These issues are likely to change from year to year. Examples of topics include the impact of climate change on the world’s forests, use of forests to mitigate catastrophic flooding, global production and use of timber, and the importance of forest certification. Students are encouraged to evaluate, interpret and criticise material from a variety of sources and to articulate ideas in both oral and written form.
