Course Overview

Students will undertake an indivualised programme reading, discussion and analysis of communication in a range of professional contexts. This will guide students in problem solving in communication in their own professional context. It will encourage reflection on students' own communicative practice in their specific professional domain.

Course Description

An individualised programme of readings in the student's own practical professional domain. Individual and group discussions of communication in specific professional domains. Interactive seminars on communication in students' own professional context.

Students will

  • Become familiar with the theoretical literature on a specific communication domain
  • Develop domain-specific conmmunication strategies
  • Reflect on their own role as communicator in their professional context
  • Develop capacities to observe and analyse communication in their specific professional domain
  • Develop techniques of communication analysis with particular reference to the language of their own professional context
