Running from February to May each year, this course is intended to equip distance learning students with the skills required to begin work on writing the dissertation course (LS5910). Students will be given online lectures relating to writing the dissertation and also given the opportunity to plan their dissertations with academic members of staff in the School of Law.

The LLM Dissertation (Online) Preparatory Course provides guidance on the necessary steps towards planning and completing the LLM Dissertation (online) course by setting out details of the dissertation advising arrangements and the preparation and approval of the Dissertation Plan as well as by providing general guidance on the LLM Dissertation (online) process.
The LLM Dissertation is fundamentally an independent piece of research. While academic colleagues are permitted by our procedures to offer support with this, the course is ultimately designed to test students’ capacity for independent thought and writing.
The following three classes will be delivered through ‘Blackboard Collaborate Ultra’, a software which is integrated into MyAberdeen:
This allows students and faculty to speak live face-to-face in a virtual meeting room. These sessions will also be recorded.
The course coordinator will arrange a time that is most suitable for everyone, taking into account availability and restrictions (if possible). You will receive more information about this in due course.
