Course Overview

 As part of the PGDE (Primary) programme, this professional placement provides further opportunity for students to apply and develop their knowledge of issues in Scottish Education and pedagogical theory. Students will develop the skills to support them as a critically responsive practitioner as they transition into their induction year.

Course Description

Students will further develop their professional practice by taking full responsibility for class teaching in a new context.  Considerations for professional development will be critically examined through practitioner enquiry, supported by professional reading and reflection.

Students who have been graded as unsatisfactory during tutor observations in Weeks 30-32 will have an opportunity to overtake this in Week 33 (summative assessment).

If a student received an unsatisfactory report(s) in SE1, i.e. they failed SE1 and have entered SE2 ‘at risk’, a formative school interim report will be required at the end of Week 28. This will be followed by an additional tutor observation in Week 29. The SE2A observation will then be carried out during Weeks 32-33.
