Course Overview

This course is about business model innovation and the development of new business propositions. This course is directed at anyone keen to enhance their knowledge of the tools, techniques and models used by successful business developers. It will be especially useful for those of you who are interested in strengthening your skills for identifying and evaluating business opportunities. You shall be introduced to a diverse range of ways to innovate effectively. You will explore what is meant by innovation, learning the different types and forms it can take and applying these to business environments. You shall learn new ways of thinking which will be supported by a variety of tools designed to encourage new outlooks and approaches to business. You will look at Value Propositions and Business Models, developing the skills and expertise to initiate, develop and sell a strong business proposal. Throughout the course there will be opportunities to apply what you are learning to a business or market meaning you will gain valuable insights and carry these into your own business ventures. In an ever-changing world it is difficult for new or established businesses to remain sustainable. To attract and retain customers organisations need to be forward thinking, flexible and versatile. You will explore the best ways to create a robust business model that can withstand change and succeed. Increasingly, the ability to “innovate” can be the key to an organisation’s ability to survive. This course will give you the tools to, not only survive but thrive in business.

AIMS This course aims to:

  • Provide you with the knowledge to understand the different dimensions of innovation with a particular focus on business model innovation, how it works and why business model development is important for companies, public sector organisations, social enterprises and charities.
  • Equip you with the skills, tools and models to support the development-design of a business venture.
