Course Description

The LLM Dissertation (Online) Preparatory Course provides guidance on the necessary steps towards planning and completing the LLM Dissertation (online) course by setting out details of the dissertation advising arrangements and the preparation and approval of the Dissertation Plan as well as by providing general guidance on the LLM Dissertation (online) process.

The LLM Dissertation is fundamentally an independent piece of research. While academic colleagues are permitted by our procedures to offer support with this, the course is ultimately designed to test students’ capacity for independent thought and writing.

The following three classes will be delivered through ‘Blackboard Collaborate Ultra’, a software which is integrated into MyAberdeen:

  1. Introductory Class
  2. How to draft LLM proposals and complete your Dissertation plan
  3. How to write a Dissertation

This allows students and faculty to speak live face-to-face in a virtual meeting room. These sessions will also be recorded.

The course coordinator will arrange a time that is most suitable for everyone, taking into account availability and restrictions (if possible). You will receive more information about this in due course.

Details, including assessments, may be subject to change until 30 August 2024 for 1st term courses and 20 December 2024 for 2nd term courses.
