This course is for people working in a public role and particulary those whose organisation has been required to produce a Gaelic Plan, or whose organisation is preparing for the likelihood of being required to produce a Gaelic Plan. These Plans almost invariably undertake to allow staff to be trained in the language, and, in many cases, this undertaking is aimed at front-of-house staff. This course equips students to be able to greet clients, customers (etc.) in person or on the phone, using a range of appropriate Gaelic phrases. It equips them to understand the responses and to have enough command of the language to exchange the appropriate pleasantries before apologising in Gaelic and switching to English. It also equips staff to read and be able to pronounce properly signage, logos, and branding that is produced for the organisation in Gaelic. We envisage that students completing this course successfully would be approximately one quarter of the way to A1 in Gaelic on the new CLAG-CEFR scale, and therefore it offers significant CPD enhancement.
