A Gaelic language course for people with basic language skills working in a customer service position, probably but not uniquely, within the public sector and service industries which have either a statutory Gaelic language plan or a positive language policy: this course builds on basic Gaelic language oral and literary skills facilitating more visibility and use of Gaelic in the workplace.
This course will help people use their basic Gaelic language skills functionally in the workplace.

This course is for people working in the public sector, whose organisation has been required to produce a Gaelic Plan, or whose organisation is preparing for the likelihood of being required to produce a Gaelic Plan. These Plans almost invariably undertake to allow staff to be trained in the language, and, in many cases, this undertaking is aimed at front-of-house staff. This course builds on the ‘Front of House’ course and further equips students to be able to greet clients, customers (etc.) in person or on the phone, using a wider range of appropriate Gaelic phrases. It provides further practice in these skills, to build students confidence. It equips them to understand the responses and to have enough command of the language to exchange the appropriate pleasantries before apologising in Gaelic and switching to English. It also equips staff to read more than in the ‘Front of House’ course: for instance, to be able to understand the gist of certain types of emails and to be able to work out where a particular email or correspondence should be directed within the organisation. It will also give students the wherewithal to enhance the Gaelic content of their own surroundings and personal branding, for instance by adopting a Gaelic signature on their own email. We envisage that students completing this course successfully would be approximately halfway to A1 in Gaelic on the new CLAG-CEFR scale, and therefore it offers significant CPD enhancement.
