This is a course in Latin language for postgraduate students who are beginning their studies with little knowledge of Latin, but who need to deal with Latin sources as part of their research. The course gives these students the skills and experience they need with original Latin texts. The course begins in mid-semester and is taken alongside its co-requisite, LT1009 Latin 1, or by special permission from both the Course-Co-ordinator and the Programme Co-ordinator of the MLitt in Celtic & Anglo-Saxon Studies. The approach taken in this course is designed specifically for postgraduates who come from around the world to study at Aberdeen, because it is based on acquiring vocabulary using students' own native (Indo-European) languages, along with advanced grammatical study. This course provides skills which are essential for in-depth postgraduate research in mediaeval and/or early-modern studies.
