Small group tutorials will allow you to debate the issues and share your perspectives.

Our level 1 Anthropology courses will give you a broad introduction to the study of human societies and cultures around the world through a range of topics in social anthropology. The courses are Introduction to Anthropology 1: Peoples of the World (AT1003) in the first semester and Introduction to Anthropology 2: Questions of Diversity (AT1502) in the second semester.
Introduction to Anthropology 1 begins by exploring the key research method of social anthropology – ethnography. Ethnography involves learning about a community or culture from the inside, by spending time with people who are part of it. Week by week, you will learn how it can be applied to a range of global issues such as climate change, indigenous rights and international development, as well as universal human phenomena like ritual, language and gift-giving.
Lecturers draw on their own experience in anthropological research along with other case study examples. In small group tutorials you will be invited to share your own opinions and perspectives. Tutors are on hand to support you with all aspects of the course including the course assessment.
