Khaleel Wadi, Reem Al-Ansari, Jana Hamdach & Ahmed Abbas, our second year students from both the Business Management and Accountancy & Finance programmes, participated in the CFA competition that took place on March 5th, hosted by the CFA Society in Doha this year.
The challenge was about a recommendation to buy or sell shares of Qatar National Bank (QNB) based on a valuation analysis that includes certain financial models. In the local competition, our students won second place and were entitled to compete in the MENA CFA competition hosted in Amman, Jordan.
Although we didn't win this year, our team did a terrific job presenting with absolute professionalism, confidence and composure throughout the presentation and the Q&A session. There were 8 other participating teams from K.S.A, U.A.E, Bahrain, Kuwait, Cyprus, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt, all of which seemed to have been senior students with extensive knowledge in Accounting & Finance.
With only half of the team specializing in Accounting & Finance, our second year students stood solid on their technical knowledge and had a great competitive edge, which makes us all very proud of their accomplishment and effort.
The students were absolutely thrilled to experience such exposure by competing abroad against other universities from the MENA region and we look forward to have more teams participating in the upcoming years.
