Getting to know...Dr Eleanor Heggdal Loenes
2024-07-15

Today, we are thrilled to officially welcome Eleanor Heggdal Loenes to her new role as School Technician and Lab Manager. Eleanor first joined our school in 2022 as a Teaching Fellow, and we wish Eleanor all the best in her new role!

Get to know Eleanor a bit more below:

If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Steak, ribeye, blue.

Do you have any pets?
No, but I volunteer with a bird sanctuary (online, because they are in Nevada). I am on the board of directors and I help with managing the social media, planning online content, filing finance reports, and also just being a friend to the humans and cockatoos who work there. We have regular livestreams and facetimes which are lots of fun!

What drew you to your current profession?
The wide range of skills that are needed and the variety of tasks which have to be performed. My role encompasses teaching, research, technical skills, purchasing, programming, health and safety, organising random cupboards and much more! I love the fact that I’m doing something different every day.

How do you stay organised and manage your time effectively?
When it comes to being in the right place at the right time, I live and die by my outlook calendar. But when it comes to getting things done, there’s no substitute for hard work!

Mountains or beach?
Both! I love the sea, sand and sun, but I also love fresh mountain air and edelweiss, so how can I pick one or the other?

Shopping online or in a store?
If it’s food shopping then in store, as I want to inspect the produce before I buy. But for everything else, online is much easier.
