Today we introduce Dr Heather Branigan, one of our lecturers and the coordinator of the Level 2 Theory course in the School of Psychology.
Get to know Heather a little more here:
How do you take your cup of tea?
Strong, with a wee bit of milk. Nothing beats a good cup of tea!
What is one thing people might not know about you?
Tha mi ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig (I am learning Gaelic)! I’m very much a beginner, but it is fun to learn something new, and it is a great way to connect to Scottish nature and places.
What does a typical day look like for you in your role?
It very much varies depending on the time of year. During semester, my time is taken up meeting students, planning/delivering teaching and marking. Outside of semester, most of my time is spent in meetings with colleagues to plan for the semester and working on projects to improve the student experience.
How do you stay organised and manage your time effectively?
I rely on my calendar quite heavily. I like to block out chunks of time to work on specific pieces of work. If I have a big piece of writing to work on, I'm a fan of the Pomodoro technique (write for 25 minutes, take a 5-minute break, repeat).
Mountains or beach?
Mountains... but we’re spoiled in Aberdeen with both nearby!
Jeans or comfy clothes?
Definitely comfy clothes. If I could wear dungarees every day, I would.
