Biography
I drive and enable the delivery of Aberdeen 2040 International commitments through policy development, and global engagement efforts. I oversee the governance and project management of our Transnational Education (TNE) initiatives and foster partnerships to advance our goals. Collaborating with key stakeholders, I provide expert guidance and strategic advice to the Vice-Principal for Global Engagement and International Deans, empowering the University to establish and strengthen its global presence, foster partnerships, and promote cross-cultural learning opportunities.

Vimal has over 20 years of experience in Corporate Governance, Educational Administration, International Development, and Trade. As an Internationalist in UK Higher Education (HE) and Further Education (FE), he has spent much of his time travelling across China, India, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Russia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Vimal joined the University in 2014 and previously worked with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) at the British Deputy High Commission, Chennai, India advising the British Deputy High Commissioner for South India on Education and Health. He has worked at the University of Derby and Vision West Nottinghamshire College in East Midlands leading/managing international student recruitment before moving from the private sector. He holds an MBA in Knowledge Management from the University of South Wales (formerly University of Wales, Newport, United Kingdom) and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Bharathiar University, Tamil Nadu, India.
