Biography
I have been involved with the University of Aberdeen since 2019 when I joined the University’s Qatar Campus in Doha as a Senior Lecturer in Business Management and later as Head of Department of Business and Management. My current role at the University focuses on the University’s partnership with SCNU (South China Normal University) where I support student learning through delivery of the following courses: Managing Organisations, International Context for Business, Marketing. I have extensively contributed to the delivery of Postgraduate courses.
My prior academic experience includes academic leadership positions such as Head of School of Business, Management and Computing (UHI, Perth) and Head of Postgraduate Portfolio at the University of Winchester. In these roles I contributed to the development of academic curriculum through strategic development, design and approval of programmes and modules at all academic levels from HNC/HND to MBA/DBA, quality assurance and enhancement, research supervision and mentoring of staff. I have taught at all academic levels, largely focussing on PG provision, including Executive Education.
I hold a PhD from the University of Birmingham. My research interests cover leadership, cross-cultural issues in the global business environment, pedagogy of transnational Higher Education. More recently my research has been developing in the area of Special Interest Tourism (SIT), specifically luxury tourism. Among my publications are Luxury Yachting: Perspectives on Tourism, Practice and Context (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022), Overtourism – Causes, Implications and Solutions (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020) and The International Business Environment and National Identity (Routledge, 2018).
