About

Biography

I am a final year PhD student and artist interested in landscape, structural geology, the history of geology and geological interpretation.

My research project is titled "Thrust localisation and linkage through rheological multilayers" and involves examining how faults form and propogate in mountain belts through hard and soft rocks. I am funded by the GeoNetZero CDT. Through my work I have become interested in geological interpretation - mainly as outcrop sketching - and how we communicate our understanding of fold-thrust structures through terminology and illustrations.

Outside of my research I am passionate about Scottish geology and landscape, especially the geology of the Moine Thrust and the Assynt Geopark. I am a qualified Summer Mountain Leader, Winter Mountain Leader Trainee and Rock Climbing Instructor Trainee.
