Biography
Nevena joined the University of Aberdeen as a Lecturer in Commercial Law in 2022.
Her current project explores how contract theory, particularly focusing on the principles of unconscionability and abusive contract terms through an LPE (Law and Political Economy) lens, can offer valuable mechanisms for addressing unequal bargaining power within Global Value Chains (GVCs). This research aims to make significant contributions to both contract theory and LPE discussions concerning power dynamics, control mechanisms, and inequalities within GVC governance structures.
Prior to joining the Aberdeen School of Law, Nevena held the position of an Adjunct at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2023, a Lecturer at Prince Sultan University College of Law in 2021, and an IICL (Albert H. Kritzer) Research Fellow at the Institute of International Commercial Law, Elisabeth Haub School of Law, Pace University, from 2016 to 2017. Her professional experience also includes serving as an Associate at the Bosnia and Herzegovina Office of Wolf Theiss from 2011 to 2015.
Nevena holds a B.A. in Laws and an LL.M. in Civil Law in the European Union, both from the University of Sarajevo and an LL.M. in International Law from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She completed her Ph.D. from the Faculty of Law at the University of Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 2022.
