Biography
As an MR physicist, my research focuses on methodological developments for low-field MRI that include fast-imaging techniques, multi-parametric imaging, and instrumentation for RF detection (custom low-frequency RF detectors and preamplifiers).
I was trained as a biomedical engineer (Université Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier/Université de Technologie de Compiègne, France) before I completed a Ph.D. in Physics in 2011 (Université Paris-Sud, France). I then worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Harvard University (Dept. of Physics) and MGH/HST Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging from 2011 to 2016, developing fast Overhauser-enhanced MRI and ultra-low magnetic field imaging.
In 2014 I co-founded Hyperfine, a company that launched the first FDA-cleared portable MRI for point-of-care neuroimaging, stemming from my work in Boston at ultra-low magnetic field.
In 2017, I co-founded the Center for Adaptable MRI Technology (AMT Center) together with my partner Dr. Najat Salameh at the University of Basel, in Switzerland. Equipped with 3 low-field systems able to scan human extremities, the whole body, or small phantom and samples, we created this platform from the ground up firmly believing in the development of accessible MRI technology. Together with Dr. Salameh, we have raised more than £3.5M (4M CHF) competitive money by means of 2 professorial fellowships from the Swiss National Science Foundation, to develop our vision and allow our respective groups to gently grow.
In April 2023 the AMT Center has relocated to the University of Aberdeen - Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition, looking to become an international leader in low-field MRI research and expanding its research portfolio with the addition of field cycling imaging (FCI) currently led by Dr. Lionel Broche.
AMT Center
The AMT Center aims to develop disruptive MRI technology to push the boundary of diagnosis and monitoring in environments and settings usually out of reach.
