Biography

My MRes project considered the roles of anxiety and uncertainty in the context of 'Pathological' Demand Avoidance (PDA) in adults. My PhD project is an extension of this work; leveraging qualitative and quantitative methods, the project aims to better understand the role of uncertainty in the development and maintenance of PDA behaviours. This project is supervised by Dr Rama Chakravarthi (University of Aberdeen), Dr Rachel Swainson (University of Aberdeen), and Dr Alasdair Clarke (University of Essex).

Research Overview

I'm interested in the development and maintenance of 'Pathological' Demand Avoidance (PDA), a unique behavioural profile characterised by obsessive avoidance of everyday demands. My research focuses on developing a better understanding of how related factors (e.g., autism and anxiety) might drive PDA behaviours. This focus has encouraged an interest in Bayesian modelling techniques.
