Biography
Louisa is a Chartered Psychologist working in the Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS) as a Lecturer. In this role, Louisa co-ordinates the Advanced Quantitative Methods and Analysis for Psychology, Health Psychology Research Review, Health Psychology Research Project and Illness, disability & Interactions with Healthcare courses, all part of the MSc Health Psychology. She is a member of the Health Psychology Group and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, with expertise in conducting both qualitative and quantitative research. Louisa also provides bespoke methodological guidance and conducts group workshops on qualitative research tailored specifically for NHS Grampian staff.
Prior to being appointed in a teaching focused role, Louisa was based in the Aberdeen Centre for Evaluation, working across a number of clinical trials (NIHR HTA funded) and trials methodology projects supported by industry, ISSF awards, and CIHR. She also co-led the Qualitative/Mixed-methods research group within the unit, and facilitated the supervision of Masters and PhD students.
Louisa completed her PhD in 2018, which investigated emotional intelligence among older adults. Thereafter, Louisa was appointed as a Research Fellow at the University of Aberdeen for a project which examined age and cultural differences in empathy. This experience resulted in international collaborations with researchers in Malaysia, including a short-term visit to conduct multi-cultural research and project dissemination.
Louisa’s research interests include behavioural science within healthcare, pedagogical science, the translation of evidence into routine clinical practice, physical activity (running) and the implementation of healthcare interventions.
