Biography
A former primary school teacher, I am now the Careers Adviser for Education, providing individual and group careers information, advice and guidance to students and recent graduates at the University of Aberdeen who are studying for a teaching degree as well as those who are curious about a career in education.
Having been part of the Careers and Employability Service team since 2013, I have gained extensive experience in careers education, information and guidance (CEIG). In 2019 I achieved a Certificate in CEIG in HE from the University of Warwick (in collaboration with AGCAS, The Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services) and became an Associate Fellow of Advance HE (formerly HEA). In addition, I am also highly experienced in developing and managing employability opportunities as well as designing, developing and evaluating new and targeted electronic careers education learning materials, including a suite of online professional skills courses.
I lead on the development of communications, marketing, website and technology for the service as well as delivering workshops for the Service, including as an #IamRemarkable facilitator.
I am a member of AGCAS and through this sit on the Scottish Education Advisers Group. I am also a trainer for AGCAS.
