Biography

John Walid Handal is a dedicated implementation specialist and PhD student passionate about improving community health through evidence-informed and person-centred innovations. With over five years of experience in knowledge translation and dissemination, John excels in designing and facilitating design thinking events that bring diverse user perspectives together to develop a shared understanding of problems and solutions. His work includes creating toolkits for implementing artificial intelligence in Canadian healthcare and delivering programs that spread and scale health innovations, such as safe and high-quality virtual care. John is committed to bringing information into practice in ways that fit the needs of the people who use it.

John's PhD research focuses on the implementation of multisector partnerships in healthcare, with a focus on whole system settings. He is also working as a Research Programme Administrator on the Building Rural-Urban healthCare Equity for Scotland (BRUCES) programme, which aims to improve health equity in remote and rural areas by investigating existing inequalities in health, healthcare access and health outcomes.
