Dr Isabel Seidel

Biography

I studied English Literature & Culture, Spanish, and Philosophy at the TU Dresden, Germany and came to Scotland to complete an MLitt in the Novel at the University of Aberdeen followed by my PhD in English also at Aberdeen. I have taught at both the Universities of Dresden and Aberdeen.

My research focuses on the nineteenth-century periodical press, women's writing, literary theory, the sociology of literature, as well as interdisciplinary studies on gender, identity, work, food and the environment.

Currently, I hold an administrative post in the School of Social Science while also teaching on the MA Sociology programme.
