Biography
Dr Antonio Ribeiro joined CGEBM/UoA as a bioinformatician in August 2015. He brings expertise in DNA sequence alignment and SNP calling obtained during his PhD within the Information & Computational Sciences (ICS) group at The James Hutton Institute (JHI)/University of Dundee. He has 7 years of experience in processing and analysis of NGS data using third-party open source tools and custom scripts, developed or optimised by him, primarily using Bash scripting, Java and Perl. Antonio has an MSc in Computational and Systems Biology (FIOCRUZ-RJ, Brazil) and specialisations in Computer Networks (PUC-Rio, Brazil) and Information Systems Development (NCE-UFRJ, Brazil). Antonio has also worked as a Customer Service Engineer, for companies like Nokia-Siemens Networks and Xerox, over 20 years.
