Dr Andrew Phillips

Biography

Andrew joined Digital Research at the University of Aberdeen in 2023 as the Digital Research Business Development Lead. In this role, he's responsible for facilitating collaboration between academic researchers, external stakeholders and digital research services. He works closely with colleagues to refine and enhance the core digital research services offered.

Andrew's extensive scientific background, including a PhD in Medical Sciences and post-doctoral research experience in both the UK and the USA, provided valuable insights and helped him build productive relationships within the research community. Before joining Digital Research, Andrew had a background in Research and Innovation, with a primary focus on establishing effective relationships and supporting the acquisition of research grants. Andrew also played a key role in promoting the University's research capabilities and actively sought opportunities to increase the quantity and quality of funding applications. He managed the application process for external funding bodies and supported contract negotiations to protect the interests and rights of the University and its staff. Andrew was also instrumental in driving transformative digital projects that improved processes and provided personal and professional growth opportunities. 

Andrew's work reflects his dedication to bridging the gap between research and digital innovation, helping to ensure that the University of Aberdeen remains at the forefront of research and development.
