Research Overview
Dr Majumder's research falls in the broad area of process systems engineering. He is intested in applying mathematical modelling and simulation approach to understand, analyse and solve various engineering problems with perticular focus on the following areas
- Crystallization: Crystal shape control using additives, optimal operating policies, enantiomorph separation, polymorph control, control of crystallizer fouling
- Biodegradation: Anaerobic digestation of organic waste for the production of valuable organic compounds
- Lattice Boltzmann method: Application of the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) for efficient simulation of mixing in crystallizers
- Carbon capture: Simulation, design and optimization of adsorption and absorption processes for carbon capture

Students interested in the above projects and requiring financial support can consider the following scholarships
- Elphinstone scholarship: Students from any where in the world can apply for this scholarship. This scholarship covers only the tuition fees and the living expenses have to be managed by the student. Deadline for application to this scholarship is typically end of March every year. [more details]
- Commonwealth scholarship: Students from the commonwealth countries can apply for the commonwealth scholarship to support their expenses.
- 50/50 PhD scheme: If the student has links to an industry or organization which can support atleast 50% of the total cost, then the student can apply for this scheme. If successful, the remaining cost will be supported by this scheme.
- Carnegie-Caledonian Scholarship: Available to Scottish students only with first class honours degrees. [view details]
