Bright sparks invited to discover science

Families are invited to join in the fun and discover science as part of British Science Week.

An action packed day of scintillating science is in store for curious young minds as part of Discovery Day at Aberdeen Science Centre, Satrosphere to conclude British Science Week. 

Discovery Day will draw the programme of events for British Science Week 2015, supported by the British Science Association, in Aberdeen to its exciting conclusion with a day of informal, fun and interactive activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Visitors can get involved with a range of activities from making 3D selfies to dissecting owl pellets this Saturday (March 21) from 10am until 4pm.

Highlights include the chance to see sparks fly in an electrifying show by Dr Ken Skeldon from The University of Aberdeen, listen as University of Aberdeen’s award-winning microscopist and photographer, Kevin MacKenzie explains how he captures stunning images using microscopes and join the ComputerXplorers Team to use the latest Lego technology to build and programme amazing creatures.

Dr Heather Doran of the University of Aberdeen’s Public Engagement with Research Unit said “British Science Week has been a roaring success but the fun hasn’t stopped yet! Bring the whole family along to discover science that’s going on all around us, mingle with University of Aberdeen scientists and get involved in interactive activities at Discovery Day.”
