A University of Aberdeen lecturer is launching an exhibition of art work inspired by King's Chapel at the Claremont Gallery in Aberdeen today (Friday).
Alan Paterson, a lecturer in Primary Education at the University, will unveil his latest exhibition ’Inner Elements – The Landscape Within’ with members of the public invited to join him at the official launch from 6.30pm to 8.30pm tonight (May 3).
Alan is also hosting an Artist Talk at the gallery on Saturday, May 11 from 2pm – 3pm.
Explaining the inspiration behind his work, Alan said: “My work is centred on experiences which evoke deep emotional responses.
“The works are immediate sojourns around and into the immediacy of psychological preoccupations with the chapel space and the natural world beyond. The conscious and unconscious interplay of mind and wonderment through the senses in relation to inner and outer experience is at the heart of my work.
“I am particularly looking forward to meeting with members of the public at the event on May 11, which will give me the opportunity to share more details about the inspiration and thought process behind my work.”
Alan Paterson is a Glasgow School of Art graduate. He has previously exhibited in a variety of places including gallery spaces in Dundee and Inverness, Arbuthnot Museum in Peterhead, and the WK Gallery, West Kilbride. He also has works in numerous private collections
‘Inner Elements – The Landscape Within’ will be on display at the gallery from May 3 until June 22.
