Senergy enters into agreement with University’s exploHUB

Leading global energy services company Senergy has underpinned its commitment to investing in people and the future of the industry after entering into an innovative agreement with the University of Aberdeen.

Both parties have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) agreeing to cooperate in supporting the further development of the University’s dedicated exploHUB training centre to deliver outstanding training in hydrocarbon exploration to the industry.

Senergy’s fast-evolving global reach, strong client base and its desire to offer integrated development opportunities to its staff, combined with exploHUB’s training expertise and desire to attract further trainees, will see the parties working together on various projects related to exploHUB.

The main areas of cooperation between Senergy and exploHUB will be marketing and promotion of exploHUB, cooperation at industry events, sourcing of trainees for exploHUB, and the training of Senergy staff as part of an integrated staff development programme.

exploHUB was established in 2010 to provide a unique exploration training environment that will prepare exploration geoscientists for the challenge of discovering the earth’s remaining hydrocarbon resources.

Director of exploHUB, Dr Stuart Archer, said: “exploHUB is delighted to enter into a strategic partnership with Senergy. Our organisations are strongly aligned as we both recognise the importance of training the next generation of hydrocarbon explorationists to continue to meet the world’s future energy demands.

“We are looking forward to working with a well-respected service company such as Senergy. This industry and academia collaboration builds on the strong industrial relationships that exploHUB has fostered since our start-up and provides further endorsement of the exploHUB MSc in Hydrocarbon Exploration as the professional geoscience qualification.”

Aberdeen-headquartered Senergy delivers world-class technical solutions, addressing challenges from large-scale integrated developments to smaller, stand-alone projects. The company’s Energy Services division has end to end expertise in hydrocarbon development from exploration, through appraisal, site survey, drilling, facilities engineering, field development planning, commercial services and enhanced recovery to field abandonment.

Iain Morrison, VP Technical Excellence and Knowledge Management at Senergy, said: “The continuous training of outstanding exploration geoscientists is essential to the future of our industry. Senergy and exploHUB are both committed to Technical Excellence and we are delighted to sign this agreement which will allow us to cooperate in a number of projects initially.  We expect to cooperate in additional areas in future.

“In the current environment, where there is fierce competition to attract and retain key people, this serves to remind us that the only way to sustain our industry is to invest in the training of new people and skills to ensure its long-term future prosperity.”

Senergy and the University of Aberdeen have already begun working together by exhibiting at the PETEX conference and exhibition in London, which focuses on the latest global activity in exploration, field development, technology, unconventionals and carbon management.
