Provocative ideas tackling some of the world’s big ethical questions will be up for discussion at the University of Aberdeen’s brand new May Festival taking place between May 10 and 12.
Bioethics Rights & Wrongs: Who Decides? is the name of the event which is free, open to all and takes place on the Friday (May 10) at 12 noon in the Old Senate Room in King’s Conference Centre at Old Aberdeen.*
The session will look at how we make decisions about scientific interventions in biology and medicine that could impact on people, the environment and animals.
Some of the topics that will be discussed by students at the University include:
- Euthanasia: should I be allowed to decide the manner of my own death?
- Human population growth: should the world adopt China’s one-child policy?
- Genetically modified organisms: are Frankenfoods really the future
