Tomorrow evening’s (May 11) Café Scientifique Shire event at Banchory’s Woodend Barn has been cancelled.

Science author Glenn Murphy – who was to speak at the event - is unable to attend due to ill health.

Booking was not required for the free event.

The next Café Scientifique Shire will take place on Tuesday June 15 and feature Professor Harry Flint from the University of Aberdeen Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health.  Professor Flint will look at the impact the health of our gut has on our overall well-being.

Other Café Scientifique events scheduled for this week will go ahead as normal.

Café Med will take place this evening (Monday May 10) at the Suttie Centre on the Foresterhill health campus at 6pm.

Professor Michael Frenneaux, Regius Professor of Medicine at the University and consultant cardiologist with NHS Grampian, and Dr Paul Broadhurst, also a consultant cardiologist with NHS Grampian will discuss the latest heart research and clinical procedures.

Café Scientifique City will take place on Wednesday (May 12) at Waterstone’s Union Bridge branch, beginning at 7pm.

Dr Graeme Ritchie from the University of Aberdeen’s Department of Computing Science will outline the linguistic tricks which are used to build jokes and explain the scientific research being conducted to better understand the mysteries of humour.
