Prospective students interested in a career in science are being invited to an open day at the University of Aberdeen next week.
Every secondary school in Scotland has been invited to send pupils to attend the University’s first BSc Open Day on Wednesday, November 3.
The event has been organised by the Science Departments and Student Recruitment Services and is the first one to incorporate all the BSc degree programmes on offer at the University. It will start at 10am in Elphinstone Hall with an introduction by the Dean, Professor Dominic Houlihan, and a series of brief talks on the admissions process, student support and careers.
The various departments will be represented in Elphinstone Hall, from where student guides will leave every 30 minutes throughout the day to escort the pupils around the campus to the various departments. Staff and students will be on hand in the departments, where subject talks, interactive displays and exhibits, and experiments will be taking place.
The subjects covered include: Agriculture, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Computing Science, Environmental Science, Forestry, Geography, Geology Geoscience, Health Sciences, Marine Resource Management, Mathematical Sciences, Molecular and Cell Biology, Physics, Psychology, Plant and Soil Science and Zoology.
Anyone wishing to attend the open day should contact Student Recruitment Services on 272090/2091.
