New agreement will provide more opportunities for Qatar students

The University of Aberdeen has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Academic Bridge Program (ABP), part of Qatar Foundation's pre-University Education, which will see the provision of further study opportunities for ABP students.

The agreement will allow ABP graduates to study Business Management, and Accountancy and Financing at the University of Aberdeen or at AFG College with the University of Aberdeen in Qatar, as well as provide an accelerated pathway to undergraduate degree and a Masters degree in these fields.

Professor Ruth Taylor, Vice-Principal for Education at the University of Aberdeen, said: “We are delighted to sign this MoU with ABP as we further enhance opportunities for students in Qatar to study with us and our partners.”

Dr. Bryan Lewallen, Director, ABP, said: “The Academic Bridge Program in Education City is focused on offering our students as many opportunities as possible, related to their university studies. Over the last 19 years, we have worked to establish an excellent reputation as the premier foundation program in the region.

“Through the establishment of MoUs with a wide variety of universities in Qatar, the UK, and the US, we are able to help our students attend universities located all over the world. We are delighted to sign this MoU with the University of Aberdeen, which covers both AFG College with the University of Aberdeen in Qatar, as well as the home campus in Scotland.”

Dr. Mark Newmark, Assistant Director, Academic Affairs, ABP, said: “It is often difficult to measure the value of education. One of the key indicators of the quality of an ABP education is the degree to which universities value our graduates. It has been gratifying to see so many US and British universities eager to create pathways for these students; pathways which allow them to join the first year of undergraduate programs and sometimes even the second year of undergraduate programs.”
