Dementia research at the University of Aberdeen received a boost earlier this month with a donation from Aberdeen couple, Peter and Avril Gray.
The couple raised £74,500 in honour of Peter’s mum who lived with dementia until her death in 2020 and have split the funds between the University’s dementia research and the Forget-Me-Not Club.
Senior researcher at the University Dr Eunchai Kang accepted the cheque on behalf of the University.
Dr Kang said: “We are so grateful to Peter and Avril for all their fundraising efforts on behalf of the University of Aberdeen and its dementia research programme.
“All the funds they raised will help our growing team of neuroscientists to continue our important research to help revolutionize the way we study the human brain – looking for solutions to treat and prevent brain disorders. Our priority is to develop tools for early diagnosis, to pave the way for new therapies of the future and ultimately to prevent this devastating disease’
