Director of Health Services Research Unit

Director of Health Services Research Unit

A unique opportunity has arisen to lead the Health Services Research Unit (HSRU) within the University of Aberdeen.

HSRU is core funded by the Chief Scientist Office (CSO) of the Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorate as a national centre for health services research relevant to the NHS in Scotland.  The Unit has grown, since it was first established in 1988, into one of the premier groups of its kind in the UK with a reputation for its substantial programme of high quality research.  Professor Marion Campbell, HSRU Director 2007 – 2015, has recently stepped down from the post after 9 successful years to take up a new post in the University of Aberdeen.  Health services research is an area of high policy relevance for the Scottish Government and for NHS Scotland. CSO core funded Units are reviewed every 4-5 years to assess the scientific excellence and relevance of the Unit’s research and continued CSO core funding is informed by this assessment.

The Director is responsible for all aspects of the running of the Unit, including strategy, development, research, staffing, finance, training activities, governance arrangements, and all outputs.

The closing date for applications is 7 April 2016 and interviews will be held on 9 May 2016.
