Aberdeen's Loss is Oxford's Gain

Professor Tim Ingold is sorry to report that Professor Peter Davidson will be leaving the University of Aberdeen, from the end of September 2015.

Thanks have been sent to Professor Peter Davidson for all his sterling work in support of northern research at the University of Aberdeen.

From October 2015, Professor Peter Davidson will divide his time between Edinburgh and Campion Hall, Oxford, where he can be contacted on peter.davidson@ell.ox.ac.uk

As well as northern rsearch, Professor Peter Davidson's research focused on the inter-relations of the arts in the early-modern period: symbols and emblems, festivals, gardens, the applied arts. He was particularly interested in baroque internationalism and in the literary and visual arts of the Counter-reformation.

Professor Peter Davidson was also Honorary Curator of Aberdeen University's Manuscript, Rare Book and Museum Collections from the Renaissance and Baroque periods and wrote a history of the collections. Professor Peter Davidson supervised original research on those collections at Doctoral and Post-Doctoral levels.
