Romans and Picts in Aberdeenshire

New findings revealed from recent Rhynie excavations are the subject of new academic study that shed light on links with the Roman world. Article by Neil Curtis - published in the Leopard magazine.

There are only a few weeks left to see the ‘Crafting Kingdoms: The Rise of the Northern Picts’ exhibition at the King’s Museum, Old Aberdeen Town House, Aberdeen AB24 3EN which ends on 31 May 2015.

Co-curated by Dr Gordon Noble, University of Aberdeen Archaeology Department.  It features old treasures, new finds and fresh perspectives on the Picts of Northern Scotland.

The material on display includes the recently discovered Gaulcross silver hoard, experimental work by the Scottish Sculpture Workshop, artefacts by Rhynie Woman artists’ collective and material from excavations at the early Pictish royal site at Rhynie.
