This week's Windows Updates are causing some PCs to hang
What is happening?
We have been made aware of a problem with Windows Updates affecting a number of University computers this week. Computers are often hanging while installing the updates or after rebooting following update installation.
What should you do?
Our normal advice is to NEVER reboot your computer while updates are being installed. However, just for today if you experience the hanging problem then the only solution is to soft-reset your computer by pressing CTRL-ALT-DELETE or by holding in the power button for a few seconds. Once your computer reboots it should no longer experience the hanging problem.
