Immpact's success at the WASH & CLEAN dissemination event in Bangladesh

The Bangladesh dissemination of the WASH & CLEAN study results met with much interest and enthusiasm from a wide variety of stakeholders

Immpact has recently returned from a trip to Bangladesh, the primary purpose of which was to disseminate the Bangladeshi results of the WASH & CLEAN study along with BRAC and the Soapbox Collaborative.

BRAC, who led the Bangladesh arm of the study, hosted the event which attracted a wide variety of stakeholders from public, private and NGO facilities, government agencies and organisations such as WaterAid, Engender Health, USAID, and ICDDR, B. Following the morning’s presentation of results, a workshop was held in the afternoon with participants working in groups to discuss the striking findings of the study and identify key action points for moving forward.

Rayerbazar Maternity Clinic, BangladeshStakeholder meetings and health facility visits were conducted during which environmental cleaning and current provision (if any) of training of cleaners was discussed. A visit was made to Rayerbazar Maternity Clinic (pictured here) which was involved in the early phase of the WASH & CLEAN study, the results of which were fed back to the clinic and recommendations made. The clinic demonstrates that, despite being a resource poor setting, high standards of infection prevention can be achieved.

Overall, the trip was a huge success, generating much interest in the WASH & CLEAN findings and opportunities for future collaboration across sectors. We look forward to moving in to the next phase following the completion of the study, and working together with our partners in-country towards the goal improving delivery care for all.
