David Walton, Audio Visual Team Leader at the University, is gearing up for an exciting role at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
David was selected from over 50,000 applicants to be a volunteer at the event, and will be part of the timing and scoring team when the Games start later this month.
The keen cyclist, who is a Regional Commissaire for British Cycling, will be helping to keep the timings and scorings on track at the women's and men’s marathons on the marathon course, the women's and men's mountain biking events over two days at Cathkin Braes and the cycling road races on the city centre road course.
After completing the application and interview process, David had to take part in various training sessions and is looking forward to getting started.
He said: “I am really delighted to be taking part in what is such an exciting event.
“One of my colleagues here at the University has helped me find accommodation for my time in Glasgow, for which I am hugely grateful, and now I just can’t wait to get there!”
